When you register, we collect your email address and display name. Your email is used to authenticate your account and, if you opt in, to send game notifications. Your display name is shown to other members of any competition you join.

We store your golfer picks, competition membership, and final scores. This data is visible to other members of your competition (scores and display name appear on the group leaderboard and in result emails).

If you opt in (the default when you create an account), we send transactional emails when picks open, after each round, and when final results are confirmed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.

With your consent, we use PostHog to collect page views, session data, and associate this with your account ID and email address. This helps us understand how the product is used and where to improve it. Analytics are only active if you accept cookies via our consent banner.

Our hosting provider (Vercel) and authentication provider (Supabase) process standard HTTP request data — including IP addresses and browser information — as part of delivering the service. We do not access or store this data ourselves beyond what appears in application logs.

We use the following third-party services to operate The Chipping Forecast. Each processes personal data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
Supabase
Hosts our database and handles authentication. Stores account data, game data, and session tokens. Hosted in Stockholm, EU — transfers from the UK are covered by the UK's adequacy decision for the European Economic Area.
Vercel
Hosts the application. Processes IP addresses and request headers as part of serving the site. Based in the United States.
Resend
Delivers transactional emails (picks open, round results, final standings). Receives recipient email addresses and the content of notification emails. Based in the United States.
PostHog
Provides product analytics. Only active if you accept cookies. Receives page view data, session information, and your account ID and email address. Based in the United States. A Data Processing Agreement is in place.
Our database and authentication provider (Supabase) is hosted in Stockholm, EU. Transfers from the UK to the EU are covered by the UK's adequacy decision for the European Economic Area and require no additional safeguards.
Our hosting provider (Vercel), email provider (Resend), and analytics provider (PostHog) are based in the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for these transfers in accordance with UK GDPR, including Data Processing Agreements and, where required, Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA).
We retain your account and game data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to any legal obligations to retain it.
Analytics data held by PostHog is subject to their retention settings for your plan. Email delivery records held by Resend are subject to their standard retention policy.
